Editorial Standards
Editorial Standards, Corrections & Contact
DailyObit aims to maintain high standards of accuracy, fairness, transparency, and responsible reporting.
Verification
We seek to verify significant claims through reliable sources before publication. Depending on the story, these may include law-enforcement agencies, government authorities, courts, hospitals or medical authorities where appropriate, official representatives, family statements, public records, and established news organizations.
Breaking-news reports may initially contain limited information. When that happens, we clearly distinguish confirmed facts from developing or unconfirmed details and update stories as credible information becomes available.
Death and Cause of Death
A person’s death and its cause are not always the same thing.
When a cause of death has not been officially established, DailyObit will not present speculation as fact. Terms such as “cause of death has not been disclosed” or “an official cause has not yet been announced” may be used when appropriate.
We also recognize that preliminary information can change as investigations, medical examinations, or official inquiries progress.
Accidents and Developing Events
Reports involving accidents, injuries, arrests, investigations, or suspected wrongdoing may change as authorities establish the facts.
An arrest, accusation, charge, or allegation does not by itself establish guilt. Where relevant, our reporting will distinguish allegations from established facts and court findings.
Privacy and Dignity
We consider the privacy and dignity of victims, relatives, and other individuals involved in sensitive events.
We generally avoid publishing unnecessary personal information or graphic descriptions that do not contribute meaningfully to public understanding of a story.
Corrections
If we discover that an article contains a factual error, we aim to correct it promptly.
Readers who identify a potential error can contact DailyObit with the article title, the specific information in question, and reliable evidence supporting the requested correction.
For significant factual corrections, we may add an editorial note explaining that the article has been updated or corrected.
We do not remove accurate reporting solely because a person or organization dislikes the information. Requests for corrections are evaluated based on accuracy and evidence.
